The corporation was founded by the late Ronald J. Woods, a former Michigan industrialist and Florida resident. After his purchase of Palm Beach Media Group in 1991, Mr. Woods invested heavily in the firm, bringing in extensive business and publishing talent and upgrading both facilities and staff. The results placed Palm Beach Media Group—a profitable and fast-growing privately held corporation—firmly on the publishing map.

In 2017 Palm Beach Media Group was acquired by Hour Media Group LLC. Hour Media Group is a Michigan-based multimedia company which publishes 70 magazines and custom titles, 22 consumer websites, 32 shows and events throughout the United States. The company is recognized as an influential publisher of city, regional and custom publications, including the marquee titles Hour DetroitMinnesota Monthly, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Sacramento Magazine. The company has offices in Michigan, California, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Minnesota, and Alabama, with over 200 employees across the country.
